Terms of Service

Fair rules, briefly.

The short version of the deal between you and WhyMark. Last updated October 2026.

The service

WhyMark is a personal bookmark library: save links, add context, find them later. During the waitlist period the product is invite-only and evolving — features may change without notice.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secret and for everything saved under your account. One account per person; do not share logins or scrape the service.

Acceptable use

Save what you like, but do not use WhyMark to store or distribute illegal material, malware, spam, or other people's private data without consent. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or threaten its operation.

Your content

Your bookmarks and notes stay yours. You grant us only the narrow licence needed to store, back up and display them back to you. We claim no ownership and grant no third party any rights over your library.

Availability

We aim for always-on but promise nothing during pre-launch: maintenance, migrations and experiments may interrupt the service. Your data is backed up with the database; exports are on the roadmap.

Pricing

Pricing is not set. Waitlist members get in first and help shape the plan. If paid tiers arrive, existing libraries remain exportable regardless.

Termination

Leave anytime — delete your account and your library goes with it. We may terminate abusive accounts with notice where practical.

Liability

The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost bookmarks, downtime, or indirect damages. Our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the preceding 12 months (currently: nothing).

Changes

Material changes to these terms are emailed before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance.
