Who it's for
WhyMark for researchers
Literature piles up fast: papers, preprints, datasets, threads. WhyMark keeps the reason you saved each one — the hypothesis it served — so months later you find it by your own words.
Save the hypothesis with the paper
“For the related-work section on retrieval” beats a folder named “papers-2026” every time. Your note is indexed, so the reason finds the source.
Triage the reading pile
Fresh saves land in an inbox. Keep what serves the project, skip the rest for later, delete the dead ends — nothing piles up unread.
One library, every browser
Lab machine, laptop, home desktop — your library lives in the cloud, reachable wherever you sign in. No sync to set up, no files to lose.
An example save, from capture to recall
- 1. Paste a source URL and add a note: “Baseline for the retrieval experiment in chapter 3”.
- 2. Keep it in your “Thesis sources” collection; add a tag if it spans projects.
- 3. Later, search “retrieval experiment” to match the words in your note.
Illustrative workflow for the web app. Public sign-ups are not open yet; pricing has not been announced. Join the waitlist for launch news.
How researchers use it
Save papers with the question they answer, not just the citation. Tag by project, collect by chapter, and let full-text search span titles, notes, and URLs.
When writing starts, search your own words — “baseline for chapter 3” — instead of digging through folders named after months.
Honest limits
WhyMark is pre-launch: no browser extension, no PDF annotation, no citation export yet. If one-click capture is essential today, keep your current tool and join the waitlist for the extension.
Questions
Can I import my current bookmarks?
Not yet — there is no importer today. A browser extension with one-click saving and importing is next on the roadmap.
Who can see my library?
Only you. It's a single-user library behind your login — no sharing, no public pages.
